On the Passing of Ida Stack
Friends,
As you may have now heard Ida Stack passed away Saturday (February 20, 2010). Ida was the Program Director for Camp Ben Frankel for nearly 40 years. As program director of Camp Ben Frankel Ida's commitment to educating the children at Camp Ben Frankel was unparalleled. Many of our camp alumni will recall Ida's gift of music and her passion for Yiddish. According to Leo Rosten, the Yiddish maven and author of The Joys of Yiddish, mensch is "someone to admire and emulate, someone of noble character. The key to being “a real mensch” is nothing less than character, rectitude, dignity, a sense of what is right, responsible, decorous". I personally can think of no better word to describe Ida.
I have attached a link to a wonderful article at stltoday.com that contains details regarding the funeral arrangements.
Best Regards,
