The Jewish Education Fund

The Jewish Education Fund was established by the Board of Directors of the Federation to support Jewish educational programs held in member communities of the Jewish Federation of Southern Illinois, Southeastern Missouri and Western Kentucky. Upon application, member communities may receive up to $500 per year for Jewish educational program(s) for adults or children. Application may be by letter describing the program and where and when it will be held and how publicized. Attendance must be open to and publicized to members of neighboring Jewish communities of the Federation. Determination of the award of funds from the Jewish Education Fund shall be solely within the discretion of the Director of the Federation and the Board of Directors.


Scholarships, Subsidies & Loans

A wide variety of endowment funds and special funding programs are available exclusively to members of our Federation and their children:

Camp Ben Frankel

Every Federation family is entitled to a $100 Camp Ben Frankel tuition subsidy. Tuition scholarships and payment plans are also available.

Youth Group Funds

Funds are available upon confidential application to enable Simoky Youth Groupers to attend local, regional, national and international programs, retreats, and conventions.

Federation Conventions

Funds are available to members who are first time attendees of regional and national Federation programs and conventions such as the General Assembly or Washington Conference.

Israel Trips and Missions

A $500 subsidy is available to each Federation child for approved Israel programs. Low interest loans are also available for up to one half the cost of an approved Israel program.

Grants, scholarships, subsidies etc are a benefit reserved for and limited to members of our Federation.


Resource Center

The Resource Center at the Jewish Federation office in Belleville contains books, audio tapes, CDs, video tapes, magazines, catalogs, curriculum materials, ritual objects, software, and archives which may be utilized on the premises or checked out by members. We also have a television, VCR, photocopy machine and scanner available for your use.

We can provide Chanukah and Shabbat candles, menorahs, gift wrap, dreidles and books for purchase.

We maintain memberships with the Central Agency for Jewish Education of St. Louis, the St. Louis Jewish Community Library, the Va'ad Hoeir, the Holocaust Memorial, the Government Affairs Office of the Jewish Federation of Chicago, and Learning Center for the benefit of our members. We also have established relationships with The Jewish Family and Childrens Service, the Jewish Center for the Aged, the Anti-Defamation League, JCPA, American Jewish Committee, American Jewish Congress, and MERS (formerly the Jewish Vocational Service).

A variety of materials including books, tapes, CDs, curriculum, and software are available by interagency loan from these institutions for our members. Educators, facilitators, docents, consultants, social workers, counselors and speakers are also available.

Camp Ben Frankel

Our three week Jewish summer residential camp held on the scenic grounds of S.I.U.'s Touch of Nature facility on Little Grassy Lake. For children from first to tenth grades.

SiMoKy Youth Group

For grades 5 through 12. Participants plan and participate in fun social, educational social service and religious programs and retreats.

Our Jewish Home

A personalized program designed to help Jewish families with young children broaden their knowledge of Jewish practices, rituals and celebrations... all in the comfort of their own homes.

Holidays and Lifecycle Events

Whether by providing holiday supplies such as Passover matzoh or Hanukkah candles, or helping to locate a rabbi to officiate at a funeral or wedding, or a mohel to perform a bris, we can help you meet your Jewish lifecycle needs.
